<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regenerate a filter by increasing the temperature of exhaust emission even when the temperature is rather low. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device for an engine comprises a particulate filter 22 installed in an exhaust pipe 16, a catalyst 21 installed in an exhaust pipe on the upstream side thereof, a combustible material jetting nozzle 24 capable of jetting a combustible material toward the catalyst, a light oil feed means 32 feeding a light oil to the combustible material jetting nozzle, a thermal sensor 26 detecting the temperature of exhaust emission, and a controller 27 controlling the light oil feed means based on an output detected by the thermal sensor. A light oil reforming means 30 reforming the light oil fed from the light oil feed means to gases formed mainly of H<SB>2</SB>and CO and jetting it from the combustible material jetting nozzle toward the nozzle is installed between the light oil feed means and the combustible material jetting nozzle. The light oil reforming means comprises an air feed device 33, a burner 34 generating the gases formed mainly of HC and CO<SB>2</SB>by reacting the light oil with the air, and a reforming catalyst 36 reforming the gases generated from the burner into the gases formed mainly of H<SB>2</SB>and CO. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
