OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide which can reduce the coupling loss with an optical waveguide having its core formed by diffusion such as a lithium niobate optical waveguide and to provide a method of manufacturing the optical waveguide. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide comprises a clad and a core provided on a substrate, characterized in that the refractive index of the core upper clad material is smaller than those of the core-side-surface clad material and the core lower clad material.
