PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine for inserting sweet potato seedlings, capable of planting sweet potato seedlings to grow sweet potatoes well without injuring the seedlings. SOLUTION: The machine for inserting sweet potato seedlings is designed to transport a sweet potato seedling 50 to the vicinity of a planting mechanism 7 with a seedling feeding mechanism 8, grasp a stem end part with a pair of left and right planting claws 12a and 12b to take out the seedling 50, shake the planting claws 12a and 12b in the vertical directions, thrust the planting claws 12a and 12b into the field and thereby perform planting operation, wherein the pair of the left and right planting claws 12a and 12b are composed so as to open and close with a claw opening and closing mechanism, the trajectory of the planting claws 12a and 12b in taking out the seedlings is almost perpendicularly cross the stem end part, and in planting with a dynamic trajectory, a front side low end face 31 forms an inclination that the front side is higher and the rear side is lower, and the front side low end face 31 is brought into contact with a main stem 50b to plant in a main stem 50b-laying state in which the front side is higher and the rear side is lower.
