An apparatus for driving a transducer of an ultrasonic probe is provided to obtain three dimensional image with high quality by improving movement precision of a transducer and narrowing an illumination interval. An apparatus for driving a transducer of an ultrasonic probe includes a frame, a motor(40), a guide rail(33), a wire(60), and a tension applying unit(26). The frame is installed on the inside of a main body. A motor(40) is fixed on the frame. The motor(40) generates a driving force which moves a transducer. The guide rail(33) is installed to be opposite to both ends of the transducer on the frame. The guide rail(33) has a guide groove for guiding a movement of the transducer. The wire(60) connects a driving shaft of the motor(40) to the transducer, and reciprocates according to a forward/backward rotation of the driving shaft. The tension applying unit(26) applies a tension to a wire.
