PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair treatment agent that comprises a keratin as a constituent component, further enhances action of the keratin, provides the hair with softness and a moist feeling and improves setting properties. SOLUTION: The hair treatment agent comprises (a) a high molecular weight keratin, (b) a phospholipid, (c) a cationic surfactant and (d) an oily component. Preferably the hair treatment agent comprises (a) a keratin having 40,000-60,000 molecular weight as the high molecular weight keratin, (b) a hydrogenated soybean phospholipid as the phospholipid, (c) a combination of one chain type surfactant and two chain type surfactant as the cationic surfactant and (d) a vegetable oil as the oily component.
