An apparatus for transceiving a multimedia opt-in message and a method thereof are provided to transmit messages, specialized according to users and groups, with a form of a normal message or a registered message according to a terminal's status and forming the message as a form of a complex message combining a text, an image, and a video, and giving the priority order to the message, thereby checking whether a user reads the message and making various application possible. An apparatus for transmitting a multimedia opt-in message comprises the followings: a message storage unit(212) which stores the multimedia opt-in message to be transmitted to the terminal of a user who agrees to message reception; a message control unit(214) which receives terminal status information from the user's terminal and controls the transmission of the message by referring to header information of the multimedia opt-in message; and a message transmission unit(216) which transmits the multimedia opt-in message to the user's terminal according to a predetermined communication method.
