An apparatus for absorbing a water hammer is provided to be freely formed by being made of a rubber material as well as to absorb the water hammer due to a flexibility of the rubber material. In an apparatus for absorbing a water hammer, a connection unit(110) is coupled to a pipe. A plurality of expansion units is extensively formed at the connection unit and an inside thereof is communicated with the pipe. And, the expansion units are made of an elastic material. The expansion units further include a spherical absorbing unit coupled so as to communicate insides thereof each other. And, a thickness of a spherical absorbing unit having a large diameter is thinner than that of a spherical absorbing unit having a small diameter.
