An organic EL(Electro-Luminescence) display device and a driving method thereof are provided to accurately adjust the grayscale of a displayed image by adopting a PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) or PWM+PAM(Power Amplifier Modulation) driving schemes. An organic EL display device includes organic EL elements(1), a scan driver(6), a data driver(5), and a preliminary charging unit(602). The scan driver applies scan signals to scan lines, which are connected to cathodes of the organic EL elements. The data driver applies data signals synchronously with the scan signals to data lines, which are connected to anodes of the organic EL elements. The preliminary charging unit pre-charges the organic EL elements with a predetermined voltage while the scan signals are applied, and includes a first switching element and a resistor element. One terminal of the first switching element is connected to an anode of the organic EL element. The resistor element is connected between the other terminal of the first switching element and a ground terminal.
