A generator is provided to prevent environmental contamination or earth or global warming by preventing generation of contaminant. A generator(1) comprises a guide(10); a main body(20) arranged in the guide so that the main body is movable in a vertical direction by a roller(15); an inlet water gate(22) installed on the main body so that the inlet water gate opens and water is introduced when the main body moves upwardly by buoyancy and closes and cuts off introduction of water when the main body moves downwardly; a pumping unit(40) arranged below the main body so as to pump out water from the main body when the main body moves downwardly; an outlet water gate(30) arranged beneath the main body so that the outlet water gate contacts the pumping unit and discharges water when the main body moves downwardly by buoyancy and closes and cuts off introduction of water when the main body moves upwardly; and a generating unit(50) for generating electricity during upward and downward movement of the main body.
