METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR GENERATING PSEUDO NOISE SEQUENCE USING MASK PATTERN CONVERSION IN A DIRECT SPREADING BAND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and an apparatus for generating a PN(Pseudo Noise) sequence by using a mask pattern conversion in a direct spreading band communication system are provided to reduce a memory capacity for storing a mask pattern in generating a PN sequence. The number of delay chips required for an extended m sequence generated from the first communication system is checked(401). The number of delay chips of a mask pattern corresponding to the number of required delay chips is calculated. A mask pattern having the calculated number of delay chips is read from a mask pattern table of the second communication system(403). The read mask pattern is converted by using a certain mask pattern conversion formula(405). A PN sequence of the first communication system is generated by using the converted mask pattern(407).
