PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device and a control method for an electric compressor enabling effective reduction of noise, by considering operation conditions of a drive source for vehicle travel and the electric compressor. SOLUTION: In the control device for the electric compressor mounted on a vehicle 1 and including electric compressor 41 driven by an electric motor 11 to compress and deliver working fluid, and control devices 10, 12 controlling operation of the electric compressor 41, the control devices 10, 12 operate the electric compressor 41 in a low noise mode in which noise is lower than original operation when drive rotation speed or physical quantity relating the same of the drive sources 3, 4 for travel of the vehicle 1 is lower than a predetermined value and operation rotation speed of the electric compressor 41 is higher than predetermined rotation speed.
