PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand the area of a dust collection filter and to secure a ventilation space between the dust collection filter and a filter case. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner has: a filter case which is arranged inside of a vacuum cleaner main body and to which a filter is connected detachably; and a dust removal means provided to the filter case to remove dust stuck to the filter. A cord reel is arranged so that a rotary shaft can be in a horizontal direction and has a first gear on the outer periphery of a reel-side wall. The filter case has: a vent hole for making air having passed through the dust collection filter flow to an electric blower; and a non-ventilation wall part which is provided horizontally adjacent to the vent hole to stop passing through of air. The dust collection filter has sizes of reaching the non-ventilation wall part from the vent hole of the filter case. At the non-ventilation wall part, a recessed part or a projecting part extending toward the vent hole is formed to secure the ventilation space communicating with the vent hole.
