A metal component for a circuit breaker and a vacuum chamber of the circuit breaker is provided to directly weld a steel end cap or external center shield to a ceramic component of a vacuum chamber body. A metal component includes a body(50) connected to a hollow body(32) of a circuit breaker, and a sealing edge(54) extending from the body and having a distal tip with a sealing surface. The sealing edge has a gradually reduced thickness of a cross section between the body and the sealing surface so that the sealing surface becomes the thinnest portion of the sealing edge. The sealing edge is generally circular, and has an outer surface defined by an outer diameter and inner diameter of the sealing edge.
