A conversation support apparatus for supporting conversation so as to quickly end conversation by reducing speeches based on misunderstanding or hasty conclusion. The conversation support apparatus comprises an example database (101) holding examples used for conversation, a speech receiving section (102) for receiving a speech of a user and outputting it as speech information, an example selecting section (103) for sequentially selecting examples contained in the example database (101) and most similar to the speech information and outputting examples corresponding to the selected examples, a speech difference computing section (105) for computing the difference between the speech information and each selected example and outputting the difference information, a transmitting section (104) for transmitting the outputted examples and the difference information to a conversation support apparatus of the interlocutor user, a receiving section (106) for receiving the examples and the difference information transmitted from the conversation support apparatus of the interlocutor user, and a speech output section (107) for outputting the received examples and the difference information.
