A telematics device having an emergency function is provided to be simply operated when an emergency occurs within a vehicle so as to receive and store information on the emergency through a camera and a microphone while the information on the emergency is transmitted to the outside. A GPS(Global Positioning System) module(50) perceives a position of a vehicle. A CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) module(60) accesses a mobile communication network. A hands-free module(70) supports a hands-free function of an external cellular phone through a microphone(90) and a speaker. A video processor(80) processes a video signal of a camera(100) and a lot of video information to display the processed information as visual information. A CODEC(Coder Decoder) processor(40) compresses audio and video signals. A memory card stores the processed audio and video signals. A controller(30) is booted by a booting signal in accordance with operation of a start switch(10) to control the modules(50,70) and the processors(80,40), receives an emergency signal according to an output value of an emergency switch(20) to boot the signal, and stores signals inputted through the microphone(90) and the camera(100) in the card, then sends the current position and information on an emergency to the outside.
