PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile terminal device which allows improvement of the usability while securing security properties, and a use limiting method thereof. SOLUTION: A mobile terminal device 1 performs radio authentication between the device 1 itself and a radio communication unit 3. The mobile terminal device 1 includes a radio authentication part for detecting a distance to the radio communication unit and performing authentication in accordance with whether the distance to the radio communication unit is within an authentication possible distance or not and a use limitation determination part for limiting the use of a prescribed function on the basis of an authentication result of the radio authentication means. In the mobile terminal device, a use limiting means selects a function being an object of use limitation, in accordance with a time for which the distance to the radio communication unit 3 continues to be longer than an authentication distance Da.
