An LCD device and an LCD are provided to stabilize the alignment characteristic of a vertically aligned liquid crystal for a long time, thereby ensuring the display reliability for a long time, by forming an alignment layer to contain moisture trapping elements together with silicon oxide. A semiconductor driver substrate(10) and a transparent electrode substrate(20) are disposed to face each other. Alignment films(30) cover the facing surfaces of the semiconductor driver substrate and the transparent electrode substrate. Each of the alignment films contains silicon oxide and moisture trapping elements. A vertically aligned liquid crystal(40) is interposed between the alignment films for the semiconductor driver substrate and the transparent electrode substrate. |
