A plasma display panel and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to minimize generation of noise and enhance reliability thereof by improving a structure of barrier ribs of a rear panel. A plurality of scan electrodes and a plurality of sustain electrodes are formed on a front panel. A plurality of address electrodes(613) are formed on a rear glass(620). A dielectric layer(615) is formed to cover the plurality of address electrodes. A plurality of lateral barrier ribs(612a) and a plurality of longitudinal barrier ribs(612b) are formed on the dielectric layer. A plurality of grooves(617) having predetermined thickness and width are formed in a part of a longitudinal direction or an entire surface of the lateral barrier ribs.
