A network monitoring apparatus using a cable modem is provided to remotely measure communication data between an end subscriber terminal and the highest headend in a network intermediate stage, and to automatically transmit the measured data in real time. A cable modem(10) measures main factors of uplink and downlink signals. An input unit(80) inputs a user's measurement requirement items. A display(40) displays measurement results for the inputted measurement items. A storage(70) stores the measurement results or software such as an OS(Operating System). An output unit(60) outputs the stored measurement results to the outside. A communication unit(30) enables data communication with the cable modem(10) during the entire processes of measurement. A controller(20) controls the respective units(10,80,60,40,70,30) during the entire processes of measurement. A power supply unit(50) supplies power to the respective units(10,80,60,40,70,30,20).
