摘要 A substrate of a transflective LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method of fabricating the substrate are provided to reduce the manufacturing cost of the LCD and improve production yield of the LCD by reducing the number of masks used to manufacture the LCD. A substrate of a transflective LCD includes a gate electrode(108) formed on a substrate(100) on which a pixel region is defined, a gate insulating layer(124) covering the gate electrode, an active layer(144) formed on a portion of the gate insulating layer, which is placed on the gate electrode, a source electrode(166) and a drain electrode(167) located on the active layer, an ohmic contact layer(148), a silicon oxide layer(190) formed on a predetermined portion of the active layer, and a pixel electrode(180) directly connected with the drain electrode and formed of a transparent conductive material. The substrate further includes an organic layer(172) that is formed on the pixel electrode and has a first open region(170) exposing a portion of the pixel electrode and an embossing pattern formed on the surface thereof, and a reflecting layer(196) that is formed on the organic layer and has a second open region exposing the pixel electrode and an embossed pattern corresponding to the organic layer. The second open region corresponds to the first open region. The portion of the pixel electrode, exposed through the first and second open regions, forms a transmission area(TA) and a portion of the reflecting layer other than the transmission part forms a reflection area(RA).
