The shaped block has an earth-side wall (2) defining the inside of the cellar shaft (1) and extending between an upper edge of the block defining the light opening and a lower edge of the block defining the base of the cellar shaft. The block has a projection (11) extending along the entire upper edge region (3) to project from the upper edge of the earth-side wall into the light opening. It has a drip edge along the underneath side. The block is preferably made from concrete. The wall of the block and the drip edge projection are in one piece and preferably made as a flat polymer part.
