The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring a drive comprising a drive motor (1) that produces a first rotational movement (5) in a drive shaft (2), a gearbox (2, 3, 6) for transmitting and/or converting the first rotational movement (5) into a second rotational movement (7) of an output shaft (3), and a control device (4) for the drive motor (1). In order to monitor the drive for unacceptable gearbox play, the speed of the rotational movements (5, 7) is modified appropriately essentially according to a pre-defined course (20), causing a change in direction of the torque transmitted by the gearbox. On the basis of the course (22) of the torque (M2) generated by the drive motor (1), the value of a characteristic variable is determined and compared with a pre-defined reference value, and a gearbox error is displayed by a signal when the deviation exceeds a pre-defined threshold value. In this way, gearbox play can be advantageously detected without using a complex sensor system. |
