Navigational system for automated robotic floor cleaners comprising radio frequency identification (RFID) tags positioned at specified areas of a floo r to be treated, the tags interacting with the cleaning device so as to change the dwell time over specified areas. This permits areas of a carpet or other surface requiring extra or less treatment to be cleaned in an optimal manner .
