An LCD is provided to uniformly supply the light over the entire LCD panel, by forming a semi-transmissive layer on a portion of a light source, which emits the light directly to the LCD panel. An LCD panel(20) is configured to display an image. A reflecting sheet(35) is disposed on a rear surface of the LCD panel. A light source unit(40) is positioned between the LCD panel and the reflecting sheet, wherein the light source unit includes a light source(40a) and a light shielding layer(40b) formed on a portion of the surface of the light source. The light shielding layer is formed of a semi-transmissive material.
