#CMT# #/CMT# The holder (3) for the line (2) comprises a first elongate holder part (8) connected to a second elongate holder part (9) via a hinge, both of the holder parts including a grip (10, 11) and combining to form a pair of tongs which can be operated with one hand when closed. A first transport mechanism (6) for the line is provided on the first holder part and a second transport mechanism is provided on the second holder part, the clamping force of the transport mechanisms against the line being variable independent of the force being applied to the tongs. #CMT# : #/CMT# The holder includes a channel (4, 5) for locating a draw line. The transport mechanisms are located on opposite sides of the line inside the channel and can be engaged with the line in order to move it along the channel. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# For inserting and pulling a draw line (e.g. draw spring) into a conduit pipe. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The user can move the draw line whilst applying little or no pressure to the tongs. If the line meets an obstacle, slippage between the line and transport mechanisms occurs or the line is prevented from moving any further, avoiding the risk of damage to the conduit pipe system. Varying the force applied to the tongs has a pulsing effect, making it easier for the line to be steered around obstacles. The force with which the line is moved is easily and quickly controlled simply by squeezing the tongs more tightly or gently. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The figure shows a perspective view of the insertion device. 2 : Draw line 3 : Tongs 4, 5 : Guide tubes 6 : First transport mechanism 8, 9 : Elongate holder parts 10, 11 : Grips #CMT#MECHANICAL ENGINEERING : #/CMT# One or both of the transport mechanisms comprises a wheel with a concave peripheral surface.
|
