An installation structure of a shock absorber is provided to discharge air between an upper spring seat and a bumper rubber actively, and to decrease noise by minimizing the early contact area between the upper spring seat and the bumper rubber. A shock absorber includes a cylinder filled with actuating fluid, and a piston rod(54) reciprocates in the cylinder. Damping force is generated by moving fluid in the cylinder in reciprocating the piston rod. An upper cap is combined with an upper part of the cylinder, and a bumper rubber(68) is combined with the piston rod to buffer impact between an upper part and the upper cap and to prevent interference. A spring is mounted between upper and lower spring seats(62) to absorb shock, and spring pads are mounted in the spring seats to reduce noise in contacting the spring. A protruded part(69) is formed in a contact portion of the bumper rubber and the upper part to decrease the initial contact area. The protruded part is arranged by using polygonal projections such as circular, hemispherical or rod type projections or combining the polygonal projections.
