The invention concerns a data processing system comprising a checker (MVE) between a main storage unit (MP) and the processor (PR) of the system to check the integrity of an code block (BC) transferred from the hard disc (DD) into the main storage unit (ME) and scanned therein under the control of the processor (PR) into a signature. The checker determines a signature (SGD) of the scanned block and compares it to a signature (SGM) which has been previously stored in association with the code block (BC) in the hard disc when an application (AP) was loaded. The scanned block is transmitted to the processor when all the signatures are equal. The previously stored signatures (SGM) are determined when the application is loaded from a soft disc (DS) into the hard disc, or developed and stored beforehand with the application code block in the soft disc.
