The proposed device for cutting semiconductor or dielectric monocrystals into plates contains an asynchronous driving motor with a stator, which consists of two ring elements, and air-foil or hydrodynamic bearings, whose casings are fixed to the surfaces of the ring elements of the stator, and a clamp for fixing a monocrystal, which is installed axially with the stator of the motor, with a possibility to be displaced relative to the longitudinal axis of the stator. One of ring elements of the stator is designed as an inactive element, has no winding, and is designed as two concentrically-arranged cylindrical segments. The second ring element is designed as an active element and contains a winding. The inside segment of the inactive ring element can be displaced relative to the outside segment and the active ring element of the stator, providing a possibility to adjust a gap between the internal segment of the inactive element and the active element of the stator. By varying the said gap, the motor torque can be varied. The present invention provides a possibility to specify optimal cutting mode when cutting monocrystals and allows the reliability of the cutting device to be increased.
