A recording medium, and a method and an apparatus for recording and reproducing text subtitle streams are provided to preferably record and reproduce the text subtitle streams within the recording medium. A first data area is configured to store at least one play list file. A second data area is configured to store at least one main AV stream and at least one text subtitle stream. The play list file includes play items and a sub-play item. The play item is configured to reproduce the main AV stream. The sub-play item is configured to reproduce the text sub-title stream. The play list file further includes synchronization information indicating the reproduction starting time of the sub-play item within a reproduction section of one of the play items.
