PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize energy saving by a simple device composition, and to provide accurate control of a temperature and humidity within wide ranges. SOLUTION: The air conditioner is provided with a humidifier 22 directly contacting water 35 with air to carry out humidification, a direct cooling device 24 taking in one part of air humidified by the humidifier 22 and directly contacting it with low temperature water 23 below a dew point to carry out cooling, a bypass passage 25 passing remaining air of the air humidified by the humidifier 22, a mixing chamber 26 taking in and mixing air from the direct cooling device 24 and air from the bypass passage 25, a heating device 27 taking in and heating air from the mixing chamber 26, and a flow control means 29 for controlling flow rates of air to be taken in by the direct cooling device 24 and by the bypass passage 25.
