PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and speedily implement jam processing without exposure of a more than needed high temperature portion. SOLUTION: The fixing device includes an upper connecting plate member 6 which connects a pair of side plates 4 to each other, a heat fixing roller 20, a pressure roller means 26, and a peeling member 40. The peeling member 40 is mounted on the upper connecting plate member 6 freely separably from the downstream side in a paper carrying direction. The fixing device further includes a first cover 50 rotationally movable between a close position where the peeling member 40 is covered from the downstream side and an open position where the member is opened to the downstream side; and a second cover 60 rotationally movable between a close position where the nip section of the heat fixing roller 20 and the pressure roller means 26 is covered from the downstream side, and an open position where the nip section is opened to the downstream side.
