An LCD and a fabricating method thereof are provided to keep a cell gap by using pattern spacers and dummy source/drain electrode patterns, thereby reducing unbalance of the cell gap. An LCD includes an upper substrate(111), and a lower TFT substrate(101) having dummy source/drain electrode patterns(135) formed on gate lines, and dummy pixel electrode patterns(123) formed on the dummy source/drain electrode patterns. Pattern spacers(113) are positioned on the dummy source/drain electrode patterns and the dummy pixel electrode patterns, and keep a gap between the upper and lower substrates. The dummy source/drain electrode patterns are formed of same materials with source and drain electrodes of the lower substrate. |
