PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record motion picture data without causing a user to worry about a free space on a recording medium while securing a recording region for still image data at the time of recording the still image data and the motion picture data on the recording medium. SOLUTION: A free space on an optical disc 107 for recording and reproducing the still image data and the motion picture data is detected by a free space monitoring portion 1082, and a recording region to be used when moving or copying the still image data recorded on a semiconductor memory card 106 onto the optical disc 107 is set by a recording region setting portion 1083. In a recordable time setting portion 1084, how much time the motion picture data can be recorded on the optical disc 107 is set based on the free space on the optical disc 107 which was detected by the free space monitoring portion 1082 and the recording region set up by the recording region setting portion 1083.
