PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IP telephone in which an appointed port for telephone conversation can be secured continuously by transmitting an appointed port inquiry command to a router in order to acquire appointed port mapping information, and judging whether an incorrect response sent back from the router by transmitting an appointed port securing command is correct or not based on the appointed port mapping information, and to provide a method for continuously securing the port of an IP telephone. SOLUTION: When telephone conversation is started, the UPnP control section 214 of an IP telephone 101 performs processing for securing continuation of an appointed port, at first, and transmits an appointed port inquiry command to a router. If appointed port mapped information has been stored by response from the router, a decision is made that an appointed port has been secured even if an incorrect response for which an appointed port from the router is not secured is received subsequently by transmitting an appointed port securing command thus sustaining telephone conversation processing.
