PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic waveguide type optical modulator more excellent in productivity and reliability. SOLUTION: The organic waveguide type optical modulator, in which incident light is modulated so that the phase or the intensity of emission light is controlled in accordance with the intensity of an electric field from the external part and a part or the whole region of an optical waveguide having organic material as a core layer is controlled by the electric field from the external part, comprises a branch part 10a for branching the incident light, a modulation part 10b for modulating the branched incident light and a composite part 10c for composing and outputting the modulated light, wherein the modulation part 10b is provided with a plurality of core layers DAST14 with respect to the propagation direction of light.
