The present invention is relative with a memory card (1) employing a write-once memory IC (17) capable of writing data only once on the bit basis, such as PROM. The memory IC (17) includes an entity data recording area in which to record entity data of a file and a reserve area in which to record management data for the file recorded and update data of the entity data. The management data is recorded in the reserve area in the direction opposite to the data recording direction in the entity data recording area.
