A nozzle assembly 150 for a shunt tube of a gravel packing apparatus, comprising a carbide insert 106, having a lip 160a which contacts the shunt surface 145a of a shunt 145 with hole 170, a shoulder 160b which is seated on the surface of the shunt, and a tapered surface 160c which is press fitted within the hole 170 in the shunt, the hole 170 may be cut at an incline. The assembly restrains movement of the insert 106 relative to the shunt 145 for welding 165 an outer jacket 155 to the shunt surface. Also included are an apparatus for use in a wellbore; and a method for attaching the nozzle assembly to a tool. |
