<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide only detected information on abnormal shadow candidates which are suspicious whether the abnormal shadows are true-positive or not and/or on abnormal shadow candidates with low visibility to prevent oversights by a physician and to make reading work more efficient. <P>SOLUTION: In a medical image processing system 100, when a medical image is generated, an image processor 2 performs processing to detect abnormal shadow candidates on the medical image. Next, the abnormal shadow candidates which are obviously true-positive or false-positive by a multivariate analysis, candidates which are difficult to determine whether they are true-positive or false-positive, and candidates located in positions which are hard to detect, or the like are determined from the image characteristic amount of the detected abnormal shadow candidates and are eliminated from the detected abnormal shadow candidates.
