PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology, whereby an operator can simply and easily designate a distribution server utilized by a scanner in a document distribution system, wherein the distribution server distributes a scan document acquired by the scanner. SOLUTION: The scanner that acts as a client of the distribution server, for distributing an image addressed to a prescribed user to a prescribed distribution destination, includes a read means for reading an image from an original; a display means for displaying a designation menu for designating a user who is to serve as the destination of the image read from the original; and a transfer means for transferring the image, read from the original to the user designated on the designation menu as the destination, and the transfer means transfers the image, read from the original to the distribution server on the basis of identification information of the distribution server acquired form the storage medium set to the scanner.
