PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a calcia clinker and a calcia-magnesia clinker that are excellent in resistance to slaking, and a refractory product obtained using them as a raw material for the refractory product.

SOLUTION: The targeted clinker is obtained by firing a composition that gives a chemical composition having CaO: 80-99.9 wt.% and NiO: 0.1-20 wt.% or a composition that gives a chemical composition having CaO: 1-98.9 wt.%, MgO: 1-98.9 wt.% and NiO: 0.1-20 wt.%.
