PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method which can manufacture a magnetic encoder having high strength against a shock at low cost. SOLUTION: The magnetic encoder manufacturing method comprises a cutting process for cutting out a ring-like intermediate material T by cutting a cylindrical member E made of a praseodymium-based magnet alloy formed by plastic working along a plane perpendicular to the axial direction and a magnetization process for obtaining the magnetic encoder 20 by magnetizing the intermediate material T.
