There is provided an automatic part teaching device for creating part teaching data accurately indicating a form of a part regardless of its size. The automatic part teaching device includes: a cover sheet (173) having one side formed to have uniformly blue luster; an illumination instrument (171d) for illuminating a portion including the part against the backdrop of the one side of the cover sheet (173); an imaging element (171c) for color-imaging the part illuminated by the illumination instrument (171d) against the blue surface of the cover sheet (173) so as to create a color image of the part; and an image processing unit (123) for identifying the form of the part from the color image created by the imaging element (171c) and creating part teaching data.
