A system and a method for offering a preferred program selection service in an Internet TV are provided to inform a user that a preferred program is broadcasted if broadcasting contents satisfying a program preference condition set from the user are detected from the broadcasting contents received through the TV by additionally forming feature information of the broadcasting contents. A streaming server(500) stores broadcasting content data. A preferred program setting server(300) selects the preferred program of the user by using broadcasting content information. An IPTV(Internet Protocol TV) server(400) generates the broadcasting content information/data, transmits the broadcasting content data to the streaming server, and transmits the broadcasting content information to the preferred program setting server. An STB(Set-Top Box)(200) reproduces and outputs a broadcasting signal of a specific channel to the TV(100) by receiving the broadcasting content data from the streaming server with the broadcasting content information received from the IPTV server.
