A device and a method for processing a polling message are provided to process the polling message representing presence of a task performed between a host and a slave at all times. A polling message I/O(Input/Output) thread generator(160) generates a polling message I/O thread(140) for receiving the polling message from the slave(110). The polling message represents whether the task performed between the host and the slave is present or not. A polling message determiner(170) determines whether the task is present or not by checking the polling message received from the slave through the polling message I/O thread. An application executor(150) executes a host application(130) for performing the task if the task is present. A storing part stores a list of the host applications matched with each slave. The application executor includes a selector selecting the host application for performing the task if the task is present, an activation determiner determining an active state of the selected host application, and an activator activating the selected host application if the selected host application is inactive.
