Disclosed is a device for pressing a rack (1) onto a pinion. Said device comprises a pressure piece (2) and a stop element (3). A spring element (4) that applies at least one of two successive stages of contact pressure, which press the pressure piece (2) against the rack (1), is disposed between the pressure piece (2) and the stop element (3). The pressure piece (2) and the stop element (3) are each provided with mutually aligned contact surfaces (17a, 17b) which are located at a distance from each other in a basic position. At least one of the contact surfaces (17a, 17b) is configured in a springy manner such that the second stage of contact pressure (2) begins as soon as the contact surfaces (17a, 17b) enter in contact with one another. |
