METHOD OF SELECTING A GPS MODE IN THE MOBILE COMMUNICATION TERMINAL

A GPS(Global Positioning System) mode selecting method in a mobile terminal is provided to optimize the GPS performance of a mobile terminal and to guarantee accuracy and promptness by selectively setting a GPS mode as an MS(Mobile Station) assist mode and an MS basic mode according to surrounding environment. A GPS signal is received through a GPS receiving unit at normal times and a GPS function is performed in an MS assist mode, and it is checked whether a current movement speed value recognized by a movement speed recognizing unit is greater than a pre-set reference movement speed value(S21-S25). When the current movement speed value is greater than the pre-set reference movement speed value, the MS assist mode is automatically changed to an MS basic mode to perform the GPS function(S26,S27).
