PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flash discharge lamp having an electrode structure capable of enduring a high input and high load lighting with respect to a flash discharge lamp as an industrial light source which has a possibility of substituting a conventional mercury lamp and a cadmium rare gas discharge lamp and irradiates strong ultraviolet rays. SOLUTION: The flash discharge lamp has an arc tube formed of a translucent ceramic, in which a rare gas is filled, and has a pair of electrodes which are arranged opposed to each other in the arc tube and are sealed airtightly at the both end parts of the arc tube, and the electrodes have a portion discharging inside the arc tube and a portion protruded to the outside of the arc tube formed integrally. A tube member extending to the outside is installed at least at one of the electrodes and the tube member is communicated with an inlet and exhaust hole which is formed at the electrode and is opened in the discharge space.
