PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer correcting skewing of recording paper, and also to provide a paper feeding method of such a printer. SOLUTION: A leading end of recording paper 12 conveyed by a pair of feed rollers 22 is inserted between a drive roller 24a and a pinch roller 24b, and a skew correction is made by a pair of first tension rollers 24. In the skewing correction, a pinching force when the drive roller 24a and the pinch roller 24b pinches the recording paper 12, is set at a weak pinching force F1a against a strong pinching force F1b in printing. The weak pinching force F1a is set such that a friction resistance generated between the recording paper 12 and the drive roller 24a by the weak pinching force F1a, is somewhat smaller than a rotation force T1 of the drive roller 24a. The drive roller 24a thereby runs idle to smooth the recording paper 12, so that the skewing of the recording paper 12 is corrected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
