PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple type air conditioner performing natural circulation cycle only on the basis of the quantity of refrigerant used in a compressor cycle and achieving proper cooling capacity balance of every indoor unit. SOLUTION: In this air conditioner comprising the plurality of indoor units 40, a compressor 11, a four-way valve 13, an outdoor heat exchanger 14, an outdoor expansion valve 16, a receiver 17, an outdoor unit 10 having a liquid pump 31, and gas connection piping 23 and liquid connection piping 22 connecting the plurality of indoor units 40 and the outdoor unit 10, the outdoor heat exchanger 14, the outdoor expansion valve 16, the receiver 17 and the liquid connection piping 22 are connected in this order, the liquid pump 31 is mounted between the receiver 17 and the liquid connection piping 22, a solenoid valve 32 is connected in parallel with the liquid pump 31, and further a switching means is mounted for switching the connection from the gas connection piping 23 to the compressor 11, to the connection from the gas connection piping 23 to the outdoor heat exchanger 14.
