<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cationic polyvinylacetal obtained by a method enabling great industrial production, and in a form of resistance to hydrolysis as possible. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the cationic polyvinylacetal comprises copolymerizing one or more kinds of cationic monomers selected from the group containing an N-alkyldiallylammonium salt with one or more kinds of vinyl esters of 1-15C unbranched or branched carboxylic acids, saponifying the obtained copolymer to afford a copolymer having ≥50 mol% vinyl alcohol unit, and acetalizing the vinyl alcohol unit with one or more kinds of a 1-15C aliphatic aldehyde, or a hemiacetal or a complete acetal thereof. The copolymerization is carried out in a mixture consisting of water and a monohydric alcohol and having 2-35 mass% water content. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
